The moment Taylor stepped to the front with Joel, the room warmed. Here was a young man whose enthusiasm could brighten any space. Joel recalled his first visit to Castle Hill Jesus Club: “You were the first person to come up to me with a big smile and say, ‘Welcome to Jesus Club.’ You made me feel so loved.”
Taylor shared openly about his hobbies — drumming, spending time with friends, and cheering for the Parramatta Eels. But the heart of his message was about belonging.
“What’s your favourite thing about Jesus Club?” Joel asked.
Taylor answered immediately: “Learning about God.”
He remembered his first night back in 2018. “I felt really welcomed… loved… cared for.” And he’s been coming ever since.
When asked what he wants churches to know about people with intellectual disabilities, his words were simple and powerful:
“I want them to know that they’re all welcome. God encourages us to welcome all people… to know His love and His care for them.”
Then he said something every church needs to hear:
“People should start a Jesus Club at their church… Yes, absolutely.”
Delegates later commented on how moved they were. One wrote, “The passion for constantly striving to make things more accessible — this is why we do what we do.”
Taylor reminded us that Jesus Club is not just a program. It is a doorway into Christian community — a place where adults with intellectual disabilities can learn Scripture, form friendships, serve others, and shine the love of Christ.
If Taylor’s story encouraged you, imagine the impact of hundreds more stories like his across Australia.
